how can i legally add credentials to my last name?

Recently I obtained my Ph.D and I'd like to change it legally,so that i can change it on my license and other forms.

Just put it on when you sign your name. You don't put your titles on a driving license.

I have never heard of anyone actually doing this, because your degree is NOT, I repeat, NOT part of your given name.Besides this is being lofty, flaunting to everyone and saying, look how smart I am.
