I am not overweight but it still happens to me. Sometimes I wake up bec I have lost my breath. When I wake up, I hear a loud bang in my head like door has open and shut. Sometimes I wonder if the loud bang in my head is my soul almost leaving my body but stopping as I wake up.

, My mother would hear a loud bang & they found out she was having mini strokes . You could be having sleep apnea, you stop breathing a little while . I would get it checked out with your Dr.

ok... you dont have to believe this but i do...and you can call me crazy...but have you ever heard of the psychic Sylvia Browne.. she got many books out and shes been on the Montel Williams Show many of times... well in one of her books that i read (cant remember what one) she talks about dreams.. and she talked about the same feeling that you awaken from... what she describes it as... is you know those dreams that seem so life like... well you soul "spirit" really does go there.. its called an astronomical travel. and that loud noise that awakes you is when your soul "spirit" returns to your body..

like i said.. it sounds crazy and im not making it up or making fun of you... its just what i read in one of her books... and if you want to know more about it or are into that kind of stuff you should really read her books or watch The Montel Williams Show when shes the guest...

Sounds like you have sleep apnea. You don't have to be overweight to have it. In re. to the soul thing, I'm not sure.

You should probably consult your doctor instead of assuming a paranormal explanation. Because, yeah, it sounds like sleep apnea.

You might have sleep apnea. It causes you to wake up and lose your breath. They have sleep machines for that.

check with your neighbors, they may have heard the noise also, or they slam their doors.
