First you need to narrow down a couple of things - the mediaeval period was chock full of fighting.

1) Geographic area
2) Which portion of the "mediaeval" period you want to cover. There were significant differences between the Low and High periods.

You could look for Viking expansion, Byzantine/Ottoman conflict, feudal expansion, cross-channel, crusades...the list goes on...

Most people think of the Battle of Hastings (1066) or perhaps Agincourt (St. Crispin's Day 1415) as the stuff of mediaeval warfare, but a couple of my favourite battles are:

Battle of Toulouse in 721 - part of the Islamic conquest of Spain. Spain has a fantastically interesting history, unfortunately too often ignored...it was not wrested entirely back from the Moors until Ferdinand and Isabella jointly drove them out, and this history of Islamic conquest may have even fueled much of the Inquisition and the push to forcefully convert Jews...

Crecy during the Hundred Years War - first use of cannons, plus you've got to love a battle where the supposedly superior force runs away in a panic...right over their own mercenaries...

Check out Wikipedia, there's a ton of lovingly detailed information there, lists of battles, tactics, weapons, etcetera - at least it will give you a good place to start. Then, though, I would head to a local university library. There are gads of excellent books out there on these battles, and depending on the battle sometimes period writings on them. The internet is a wonderful tool, but it doesn't encompass everything.

Happy researching!

I assume you mean "medeival?" The battle of Trebia was a little bit befoe that, but a great battle.

Also the battle of Sterling Bridge, Scotland was one for the ages.
