"WAS (not is) the First World War the ultimate solution to all wars?" Are you asking if this war was "the war to end all wars"?
Some thought that way after the conflict ended in 1918, due to the terrible loss of life. But that statement has been proven false over and over again.

World war 1 was the war to end ALL wars!
World war 2 showed it was a load of crap!

WW I, the war to end all wars? Oh for sure! Just look around, it's been pretty quiet in the war department since November 11, 1918.

...of course I don't read the newspapers too much.
