...my horse just wont pick up any pace at the moment...he's like a damn big tortoise...

Back when I was a kid and had horses we did one of two things, put a bur under the back half of the saddle. Instead of kicking the animal we shift our weight to the back of the saddle and a quick shake on the reigns and train the horse to move it a little quicker. They usually respond without being too overwhelmed. Otherwise spurs work great for lazy stubborn horses.

look after your horse well and your horse will do noting for you becouse all it wants to do is eat (like me but at least i can talk)
