Could you tell me if you heard good or bad things about the company..Is it a good company to work for?

its confusing because if your from a hella small town like me there is NO other agencies. If you sign with John Robert Powers and pay the thousands you do get some experience in the classes, and you can use that on your future resumes. However, if you dont go to a agency and just MOVE to N.y or Cali you have NO expereiece at all it will be a joke.

I recently signed my girls up here in London with JRP for acting, it's a school not an agency. Therefore they are not promising you a job or any kind of work, it's strictly training. You also have the opportunity to meet several castings directors and agents (on a regular basis), and to take part in lots of different auditions. It's a way of ensuring that you present/market/sell your self to a very high standard when you go for auditions etc; so that you stand a better chance of getting a good agent which would eventually lead to you getting work!

Only bad! They are a scam. Don't give them money. John Robert Powers is NOT, I repeat, NOT a modeling agency. They scam want-to-be models, that have NOT chance of becoming a model. They make money charging thousands of dollars to naiive girls that think they are model potential. This question has been answers numerous times. It is NOT a reputable company.

Stay away from John Robert Powers and Barbizon both are scammers.

If you have what it takes to model: 5'9" tall and 125 lbs. go to New York City.

Its one of the big name modeling agencies, they were where alot of todays big name models started out. They have locations everywhere and they look for all types of people. I have a friend that she got started through them. They only want people that are ready to devote their time to their careers. If you are still in school or have a bunch of things that you have to schedule around they wont work with you. You have to be available when they call, because if you miss so many jobs then your done with them. And you dont want a rep for blowing off jobs, and agencies talk to each other.

I've heard bad things about them. You should never have to *pay* for an agent, they get their money when they get you a gig. John Robert Powers' schtick is to get you in their office, then put you through "classes" that cost thousands of dollars.

bottom line - if you are interested in modeling, there are plenty places that you can go that won't cost you up front.

It's a joke- an ex of mine wanted to be a model. They promised the world but she needed to just take a couple of their classes before she would be successful- I discouraged her from doing it. She did it anyways, spent a grand and the delivered nothing. It's an evil company playing on the insecurites and dreams of young women.

Oh yes, they have a very cool van where they have there office.

Its a good thing that your doing research on this company. One good tip that Tyra Banks said about modeling agencies was that you should NEVER give them MONEY. Agencies should be investing on you. They should be spending money on you to make you a success. Them making you a success means more money for them and you.

JRP is NOT a modeling agency. it is a SCHOOL. they may interview you like they are going to represent you, but they dont do that stuff, they just train you=acting classes & modeling classes and all of it costs big bucks. If you are looking for an "agent" just send your pics in to reputable agents. you shouldnt have to pay to be a star and all JRP is good for is taking money...
