In all truth, the content of modern media is reflective of our cultural values. In the past, media content concerned the plight of the working man, which is clearly indicative of the classic American appreciation of the value of hard work. However, today's media is mainly concerned with the plights of Heiress's and others who put forth little effort to gain their wealth. Indicating that many today consider televised spectacles like American Idol a valid career path.

I don't think it is a sign of the Apocalypse. People like talent shows and they like to see ordinary people make it big. It is just entertainment.

What about the reality show Survivor? Where they are put on a deserted Island and the last man standing wins a million dollars.
We see kids like Carry Underwood gaining wonderful carreers as singers and actors. But this has been happening since the beginning of time. Some are born into great wealth.
Should all start out poor?
What about Kings and Queens. Who were born into it.
Women have always gained if they were beautiful.
Men if they were smart.
