Whites get 11 months out of the year. You want a specific day?

I love hearing from you guys bemoaning there's no White history day, no White clubs in school, no NAAWP. You have it all. When I went to school, everyone in the class talked about what their race contributed to the making of America. When my turn came to speak, my teacher said "Blacks were just slaves". I was just a kid and so hurt. When I told my dad he sat me down and gave me a history lesson. I went back to school the next day and told my teacher and classmates what I'd learned. and I was proud to know and anxious to let others know, we did contribute to this country. We did matter.
Most history we learned was white revisionist history. There were no Black or Indian names or stories told. No heros. We had to learn who WE were. What OUR accomplishments were. It was a point of racial pride to know that despite all the suffering, we belonged and we weren't going anywhere else!
Tell me, what did you learn about the middle ages? Who were the people that populated your history books? What about the Victorian age? What about America's early days? You're crying and moaning because for one month out of the year you get to hear about the accomplishments of a few black people? Names that you'd never heard before and will never hear again? Names and a people you could care less about? What. You think we don't feel the same way sometimes? You think we ALWAYS want to hear/see/read about people that don't look like us? We want/need to know our history too. We want you to know about it because it humanizes us in your eyes. If you realize we're fellow humans you'll think twice about trying to enslave us, or pushing us to the back of the bus or colored waiting rooms. If you realize we are fellow humans, we can work together. To clean up the earth, to find a cure for stupidity and ignorance and apathy. Check yourself. Everyday is "white history day".

You can not divide history into white and black. The idea of of white or black racial history is absurd. History is the actions, interaction and relations of the different races, nations, individual persons and ethnic groups. The Civil War is a good example of this. It was a war fought primarily by whites over the fate of the freedom of blacks.

Everyday is white history day. Compared to all other races, why should whites get a history day/month? What is it that is so oppressed about white history? Nothing. On the other hand, other races are oppressed and their history is not taught as much as white history...

^^ I don't think that giving other races a chance to speak and learn about their history is the whites paying for their father's mistakes...

A better question to ask is why is there only a black history month? Why not a native american history month...or a woman's history month. Black's were not the only race to suffer in this country.

for the same reason only the caucasion race can be blamed for hate crimes. i not kidding here, and i challenge someone to show ne case law on it. in fact recently 4 Afro American teen beet the heck out of a caucation teen at a bus stop in portland, oregon. this happened infront of 30 adults. while these girls were beeting there victim, the were voicing outload that they did it because she was white. they were only charged with asualt.
long story short; there is a severe ratial one sidedness. if this incedent had happened reversly, the caucation girls would have been charged with a hate crime and there sentences would have been inhanced

Because white history is so rich and extensive that it would take a lot more than a day, a lot more than a month, a lot more than a year to review.

i remember white history every day and do not celebrate black history day, week, month, year, or any other period of time. as you can see by the photo at left, it doesnt apply to me. just like ramadan, hannukah, the chinese new year, and cinco de mayo.

because the "white man" doesnt have an oppressed history?
I don't know - maybe because today's generation are still going to have to pay for the mistakes of our fore fathers... i feel for the generations to come; how long will the sons have to pay for the fathers mistakes....
