What browser are you using? if you're using internet explorer (the standard one that comes with windows), go to

http://www.mozilla.org/

and download and install firefox or thunderbird

I can only talk for firefox, but it's a lot more straight forward to use than internet explorer, you probably don't even neeed any help setting it up, but if you have any problems you can email me, and I'll do my best to help

And you can actually change quite a few of your settings to improve things without causiong any problems (and if you do screw it up, it only takes a couple of mins to reinstall your browser)

Gonna download thunderbird and give it a go, just cause I've never tried it before...

In IE
Tools > Internet Options

In FireFox
Tools > Options

After that, it all depends on settings you want to adjust.

What they said ("Options"), plus it might be useful to use the Help menu in the browser. They have answers to common questions in there.
