That command shuts down any current program you're running.
for example if you're running internet explorer and you press ALT +f4 that would shut down the internet explorer.

Closes the program and takes you back to the directory. A loooooooooong time ago in DOS, before menus, we had to:

Alt F S to save
Control W to close a file
and Alt F4 to exit the program

Many of the old shortcuts still work.

Yeah it closed the windows I think. there are different Keyboard commands, back in the dos days, people would use there Keyboards most of the time.

i admire different shortcuts besides - Microsoft Key + E = Explorer Microsoft Key + R = Run on the spot Microsoft Key + D = cut back All Ctrl + X = cut back Ctrl + C = reproduction Ctrl + V = Paste
