Hi there, Some questions seem pointless, but they have their importance to the person asking them. Some questions are silly, offensive and damn right ludicrous; but some are witty, interesting, and a great source of knowledge. Yahoo Q & A is a harmless pass time. :o)

They are not pointless if they connect you to others. Now and then you may be able to really help someone. Unless you're having a bad day, it usually makes you feel good when your words have lifted someone else up.

Presumably the same reason the rest of us do, to amass more points. Theoretically, the quickest way to progress is to get best answers and the only way to do that is to answer as many questions as possible.

They are not all pointless. My philosophy in life is that if you learn something new each day , then it has been a positive one.
If you learn something interesting, you can then pass that knowledge on to someone else.
