They are equally "real" to me, although in dreams my senses are more acute, & my thoughts aren't as cluttered. Most are so vivid, I'm tempted to ponder which is the "true" reality. When I'm "dreaming," I'm not aware I'm dreaming. Just as now, it's "possible" I could be dreaming. Except, the clutter is there; what I did yesterday, what I plan to do tomorrow, memories & associations. This is never present in my dreams. My dreams are focused on the moment & this makes them rather magic, I think. (Focus is probably why the senses are more acute.) Another thing that distinguishs them, when I go to bed, is that I can choose to "return" to a certain place I love most in that landscape, yet I'm never compelled to wish myself elsewhere in my dreams. It would never occur to me. Good question. Both are real, but in quite different ways.

Well while I'm dreaming the majority of the time (I do remember one dream I had where I realized that it was just a dream) I have no idea that it is a dream and believe it to be reality, even though some of the things I experience while dreaming are compleatly unreal (i.e flying). When I wake up in the darkness and realize that I haven't found my true love or whatever it was I was dreaming about, I am usually extreamly dissapointed and want to go back to sleep just to dream that dream again.

However this seems to be only true with good dreams. Many times if I have a nightmare, I am kinda aware that it is a dream but I am still scared of whatever it is that makes it a nightmare and at the same time trying to wake myself up.

So to answer your question bluntly, while I am dreaming dreams are reality to me, I have no memory of my actual life or anything to do with the real world. But as soon as I wake up I realize that it was in fact a dream and I come back to reality. Many times I wish my dreams were reality, but sadly they are not.

I think reality is just a dream. This is more easily understandable if one considers the actual scale of the components of an atom. If one takes into account the fact that the neutrons, protons and electrons of an atom actually have huge spaces between them it becomes clear that the atoms that make up seemingly solid objects are made up of 99+ percent empty space.

This alone does not seem too important till you add the idea that the atoms that make up seemingly solid objects are more of a loose conglomeration that share a similar attraction but never really touch each other.

At first glance this does not really seem relevant, but closer analysis reveals that this adds a tremendous amount of empty space to solid objects that are already made up of atoms that are 99 percent space. When so-called solid objects are seen in this light it becomes apparent that they can in no way be the seemingly solid objects they appear to be.

We ourselves are not exceptions to this phenomenon.

These seemingly solid objects are more like ghostly images that we interpret as solid objects based on our perceptual conclusions.

From this we must conclude that Perception is some sort of a trick that helps us to take these ghostly images and turn them into a world we can associate and interact with. This clever device seems to be a creation of our intellect that enables us to interact with each other in what appears to be a three dimensional reality.

I hope that helps to answered your question.

Oh, sometimes they are so real that if I didn't wake up I wouldn't know the difference. Sometimes I even remember a dream during the day and have to remind myself it was a dream and not a memory. Some of toughs are the best.

no, I think that the experience of a dream is more sensual, but my dreams are usually more complicated than my reality. I trust in reality, dreams are usually fleeting.
