Go to tools / Internet options/ general tab and delete history this will remove websites you have visited recently, if you want to remove searches you have asked for go to tools /internet options/ content tab/ auto complete clear forms so if you have been searching for stuff that you'd be ashamed of your mother finding out, there will be no trace however all the places you have been will leave cookies and temporary internet files on your computer

In Mozilla Firefox:
Go to Tools | Options and select the Privacy tab. At the bottom, is the Private Data area. First, click on Settings and choose which data you would like to clear. Saved searches are included in Saved Form Data. Click OK, then OK again. Go to Tools | Clear Private Data.
In Internet Explorer:
Go to Tools | Internet Options and go to the General tab. In the Browsing History section, click on Settings in order to set how often you want data to be deleted and so on. Click OK, then click Delete in Browsing History.

Go to the Google toolbar & click on the "blue" box next to the word "go." That will bring up a box that shows what sites you've visited. At the bottom, click on "clear history" & it will delete all sites you've visited.

download CCleaner from www.ccleaner.com
Run it, and click run cleaner. It'll delete history, saved form files, etc. You can decide what it cleans.
