Is germanium safe to use in shampoo?

I just looked it up and I did not see any poison flags, so my guess is yes. (Ge) is used in fiber optics and semiconductors.

Are you making your own or is it an ingredient in an over-the counter or prescription shampoo? I would suspect that it is "safe to use" if being used appropriately as a prescription shampoo. Otherwise, not advisable.
