In psychology there is the concept of nature vs. nurture. For the most part, nature has won the argument - although there is evidence that biology does play a role in a person's psyche (such as alcoholism, for example).

The fact is, if Hitler was alive today and living in a different area (such as the United States) then I would think he would be very different than he turned out to be as a German living in the beginning part of the century. Any of us could have turned out different if born in a different time and place.

Would I vote for him? He would be a complete stranger... I wouldn't know anything about his philosophy, political system, beliefs, etc... so right now I'd lean towards undecided.

None of us are born racist. Family, society, etc... throw those concepts down our throats.

Knowing what we know now of him, of course not.

But as others have pointed out, he did post WW l Germany a lot of good before he appeared to have gone completely bonkers.

If I were German, with the state of the country in the Great Depression after WW l when it cost 5 billion marks to mail a letter and all savings were wiped out, and with no knowledge of what would eventually come about, would I have voted for him?

Probably.

Which of course is what scares the heck out of me about the current administration. If we actually do attack Iran, welcome to WW lll. Come early for best seating.

An alive and youthful 117 year old Hitler. Interesting. Would I vote for him? Of course not, but then again, I'm not a right leaning fascist.

the sad fact is that if Hitler had died prior to Sept1 ,1939 he would have been considered one of the best leaders of the 20th century...he devised thr interstate highway system we all ride on today(the autobahn),he brought a war savaged Germany out of a major depression, many other accomplishments...once he succumbed to the dark forces of his psyche he turned to evil...before that he did a lot of good...
