what blocks clouds to rain at midsea?

they say,mountains& forests, block couds,so it rains at land.

Certainly the windward mountain slopes do tend to get more rain than other places but it isn't necessary to have something block the clouds for it to rain. Otherwise it would never rain on the plains. But it does rain on the plains sometimes and on the sea. Blockage can help get more rain but isn't necessary to get some rain.
