ALL those answers of doing it like a proportion are WRONG!!!!

This is talking like statistical confidence.

When it comes to confidence intervals when you what 95% confidence find za/2 where za/2 corresponds to a z-score where (1-95%)/2 of the data of a standard normal (N(0, 1)) lies above za/2

So for this case you need to find the z-score were (1-89%)/2 = 5.5% of the data lie above that point.

Using a standard normal chart

z = 1.598 approximately 1.60

1.84, rounded to where you rounded it

set it up as a proportion, with 95 over 89 set equal to 1.96 over x

now cross multiply, you should end up with 95x=174.44

you will end up with about 1.84
