I am in a book club and i was soppsed to read this book ... can anybody tell me the ending and the plot

I read this book. The book is about two children who live in Nigeria. At the beginning, Femi (male) and Sade (female). Their mother is killed by the government because their father speaks the truth about their country's corrupt government. To be safe, they are sent to London to live with their uncle illegaly. Sade finds herself lying all the time and she was taught to tell the truth. But will the truth help her?
Fem, her little brother, has just stopped talking and is in his own world where he does not want anyone to join him. Femi and Sade find themselves lost in London and can't find their uncle Dele. So the police finds them and they go to a foster home.
After a few days, they move to another foster home where they live with the Kings, a jamaican family. They go to school like regular kids and soon tell the truth. Sade cannot take it anymore. Then, they find that their dad came to London and is in an immigrant prison for illegals. He goes on a food strike and then... Sade and Femi are worried about their dad. He comes home on Christmas Eve with uncle Dele. He is allowed, along with his children, to stay in London temporarily. This book takes place in 1995.
