how can people not understand the concept that well is an adverb and you are supposed to use it to describe verbs and good is an adjective and you are supposed to use it to describe nouns. how can they not hear that "you do that good" (or something like that) sounds bad?

Yes, that has always been a mystery to me too. I suppose people just tune out and don't care. It's the sign of a poor mind. "You done real good." AAAGGGGHHHH!!!!

Ack!! I moved to Omaha, Nebraska a couple of years ago, and they ALL use "good" as an adverb. They sound like uneducated hicks to me, but they all do it, and like you say - it doesn't even sound wrong to them. I guess it must be part of the regional dialect here - like saying y'all if you live in Texas.

yeah... - I can see you have a touch of grammar Nazi about you :)) I am prone to that also.
It took me years before I could let go of the actual words and hear what the person was trying to say from their heart.
"You do that good" is a complement and the correct answer is always "Thank you"

Actually, it doesn't sound bad. It sounds just as good as using well would. You're getting too strict about this!
