i know system of a down is a band but what does that mean?

They got the name from when Daron (guitarist) wrote a poem called Victims of a Down. They thought of it as a band name, but then changed it to System as they thought it sounded better.

Probably to do with the government and society today. But if you asked them yourselves, they would probably say "well what does it mean to YOU?"

There was a Kerrang interview where the band met with some of their fans and one of them asked the question:
Fan: "What exactly is the 'System of a Down'?"
Shavo: "There's no specific meaning. It's up to your interpretation"
Daron: "We all have a different meaning, so it's pretty much up to you"
John: "I think it would be better to ask what's your interpretation"
Fan: "I'm thinking it represents the corruption within our current society"
Shavo: "Yeah that's a good one. Maybe that's what it is"
