Why won't my Cheat Gnome work on Sims 2 game for Gamecube?

While playing the game I pressed L, R. Up, A, Z. As website said. I tried holding all buttons down and pressing one by one, neither worked. Can someone tell me what I'm missing or not doing correctly. Thanks

Thank goodness! I thought I was the only one that couldn't get a simple cheat to work. It took me like ten tries, but if you press the buttons fast enough in the right order it should eventually work. :)
