--some say Brady Quinn wont even be in the 1st round...some say he will be...some say he'll be 3rd, or 2nd or even 9th pick...whats the deal?? and why wouldnt he...he only lost what...3-4 games during the season??--and also Jamarcus Russell is getting soo much hype..

what do you think about them both?

Quinn is getting the Matt Leinart treatment at the moment. He has been the poster boy for so long everyone has started to find what is wrong with him (exactly the same as last year leading up to the draft with Leinart). Remember one thing, every team is denying their interest in just about every player that could help them. This is common strategy so nobody knows what each team is thinking and makes the desire to move up in the draft to get the guy they really want, just in case. The teams picking in the top 5 hope to capitalize on thisso dont believe all you hear. Brady had 2 years of coaching from Charlie Weis so there is little doubt he is being desired far more than anyone will admit. Weis (who is given full credit for developing Brady) has come out and said that Brady ,in time, will be the 3rd best QB in the NFL behind Brady and Peyton Manning. Of course that is a bit of smoke and mirrors as well but every team know exactly what they are getting in him and he will not slide out of the 1st round. He likely wont slide out of the top 10 and since the Raiders are likely married to the idea of drafting Russell the Lions are probably getting some calls to see if they will deal the 2nd pick. At least 2 teams (Vikings & Texans) are very much in need of a QB and the Dolphins especially now with Cam Cameron as head coach are also likely to be thinking QB at the top of the draft .Cameron has ben rumored to not be enamored with the prospect of starting Culpepper and also has a pretty good track record with QBs (Brees & Rivers, before that he coached QBs at the U of M= Brady). So there are 3 teams that may be hard pressed to not address their respective QB issues that have top 10 picks and might be interested in moving up to make sure they are the ones to win the Brady sweepstakes. people have personal feelings about pretty much every player, the hard part is putting aside emotions and using history and factual information to determine where a player stands. Heck some people are miffed that Troy Smith isnt getting the hype of Brady, the measuring sticks used by the NFL (height, arm strength, ability to read defenses, character issues, etc.) tell the story. So dont read too much into peoples personal agendas, look at the tangible evidence and the only proper conclusion will be Russell and Brady walking to the draft podium as 2 of the top 10 players drafted. By the way, facts being as they are Calvin Johnson is rated as the best player available in this years draft by nearly every team. that doesnt mean he goes first, teams have to consider needs and whether or not they pay 1st pick dollars for a WR or QB.

I thought Quinn was overrated as the projected 1st pick in the draft (ESPN preseason) as were the Irish in general (#2). Not sure of team need across the board but I think he could be middle second rounder. "He" did nort lose 3-4 games, "they" did.

As for Russell, I liked his arm strength and poise before he vaulted to the potential #1 pick. I think this is a need based pick for Oakland. Still I would give Russell a 1st round selection.

Bottom line is, it doesn't matter where they start (Ryan Leaf), it's where they finish (Tom Brady).

They have been guys who won the Heisman and didn't get drafted. So scouts don't care about numbers that put up in college.

Quinn's sliding, but he's not going to slide past the first round.
