there ended up being a couple of tornados about 30 minutes away... but it still scared me since my husband was at work.. when i was 9 months old i was in a tornado and the only reason im alive today is because my mom didnt have enough time to get me out of my baby-walker after she ran to get my brother and sister into the hall (going for the closet.. didnt have time.. thanks God, because the trailer we were in was totally crush EXCEPT the hall that we were in) we were very lucky.. and im so glad you people helped me today.. And even more so, that I haven't had to use your advice, yet. Thanks for the help.. Its good to know these things...

love,
heather

yeah i just realized that most people probably wont understand the NOT getting me out of the walker comment...

I was 9 months old in the walker, the trailer flipped and i stayed in the walker, which kept my body from being thrown around too much.. :D

Keep an ear on the radio or an eye and ear on the TV. You'll hear the EAS tone as three short beeps, then one very long, sharp sound if it's an important announcement. Listen to the EAS or read the text to make sure, because the endecs that send that creepy computerized message go nuts sometimes--if it's a watch reminder, don't worry about it. That's rare, but it happens. That long, annoying shrill beep is to get your attention.

If possible, get to the lowest floor in your house, preferably a basement. If you can't, get in a closet. Cover yourself with a good, heavy coat or blanket, mattress--anything good and heavy to keep debris from harming you or your baby. Remember to hold onto your baby good and tight, and cover their body with yours. I've also heard of people going under heavy furniture, such as large couches, workbenches in basements, and so forth.

Keep on eye on your local weather either by tv, internet or radio. If you see a bulletin on the tv, internet, or hear one on the radio, or you hear the tornado sirens go off, then go to either your basement, or inside a secure room like a closet, bathroom or utility room. Stay away from windows, and cover your baby with your body, in case it hits, and something should fall on you.

Get in the basement. If you are in a trailer, get out of it and find the nearest ditch and lie down and cover you and the babys heads. Whatever you are going to do, DO IT NOW!!!

Listen to the radio. Have extra batteries. take your whole family down to the basement (if you have one). if there's a tv in the basement turn it on. and the other part of the storm which is the blizzard is going into new york where i live,

if you have time, leave the area...preferably away from the tornado...and if not, go to a basement or in a shower with a mattress above it.

safest place is a closet, perferably under the stairs. or in the bathtub. but first you need to get off pc. it's very dangerous!good luck!
