It actually is a true word, however the political body for words and language may have decided that it was or was not, I am not sure, yet this is like the political body that decides what might be a DSM label and votes to put it in, leave it in, or take it out at their whim and pleasure. It is a word it has been used in sentences so many times that it is a word. In a sense this is a good word to show that one can use words and labels as anything they decide to anytime they decide to as long as the political body agrees.

dictionary.com says: Roots of the word have been defined, as Richard Lederer writes in his book Crazy English as follows: super- "above," cali- "beauty," fragilistic- "delicate," expiali- "to atone," and docious- "educable," with the sum of these parts signifying roughly "Atoning for extreme and delicate beauty while still being highly educable." This explication of its connotations suits the fictional character of Mary Poppins, in that she presents herself as both superlatively beautiful and also supremely intelligent and capable of great achievements.

It's certainly a word, because you used it in a sentence. Is it a legitimate word? Probably not.

Ask yourself, what is a synonom for this word? Chances are, that word would be so confusing that you might as well just use the words, great, awesome, radical, superb, etc. Although who am I to limit your vocabular.

Right on you supercalifragilistic babe!
