I just got over my period but I'm wondering, can you still get your period if you're pregnant? I had my period a week early and for 2 and 1/2 days. The first day it was not extremely heavy as it typically is for me. The first day was almost like the middle day for me. And the last day and a half were as though I did not have it at all--barely bleeding (brownish icky color). Is it possible that I could be pregnant still since I received this a week early and it was not a typical period for me?

I currently have a cold. Since there is a possibility that I could be pregnant, should I stay away from nyquill and other medications? Also, if I'm not pregnant, should I expect another "period" in a week when I should have gotten it in the first place?

This could be implantation bleeding as it occurs 6-10 days after ovulation which could be a week before your period is due. It is generally lighter & shorter than a normal period and may only be spotting. Length always varies so it is hard to say for sure when it occurs. An early results home pregnancy test may be able to tell if you're pregnant 5 days before your period is due, especially if you use first morning urine. However, a negative on this test does not gurantee that you're not pregnant b/c it may have just been too early to test. A blood test at the drs will be able to tell also and are slightly more accurate than home tests. If you go to the he/she will also be able to tell you what the bleeding you experienced is from if you're not pregnant. Sometimes women just get their periods early/late for natural reasons and it doesn't mean anything. Best Wishes!
