Ok I know it doesn't seem like there is a use for them, But they are very good at getting rid of rodents and bugs. They are as good if not better mousers than a cat. They also will eat grubs and bugs that would otherwise harm your plants and other things. I actually do not mind the 2 in the summer that co-exist with us, they don't cross us and we don't cross them, but we have no mouse or bug problems.

Everything is here for a reason, sometimes the reasons are not so clear, like the opposum, ugliest creature I've ever seen, but it must have a purpose or it wouldn't be here.

They have a use in the ecosystem. You should not assume nothing has any use. If it didn't, they would be extinct. I am sure you are "no use" right now....are you contributing greatly to society? You are probably getting everything from your parents yet, so technically not only would you be "no use" but a burden, which is probably worse.
What is the use of a dog or cat? Better yet, most animals have no technical "use" (other than food), so we should just kill them all.

Anyways, skunks are important in aerating the soil- they dig and burrow. It helps keep air in the forest soil and helps decomposition (I really do not want to go into forest dynamics) They eat insects, small rodents, etc. They get eaten by Great Horned Owls, and a very hungry coyote or wolf.

They also are very intelligent and sweet creatures. A tame one acts a lot like a cat, but without the attitude.

Aye, what the persons above mentioned. i do no longer think of they captured the severity of the skunk spray chemical in spite of the undeniable fact that. in case you fairly get an instant hit it incredibly is no longer basically the main overwhelming smell you will possibly ever adventure, it additionally has a diverse style, it incredibly is like each and every little thing on your physique and on your mouth and throat are completely lined with the stuff (basically via proximity). you will possibly no longer style or smell the rest for the 1st day or so. And basically your mom's possibly going to get close to you, there is no thank you to have a smart paintings/college/social courting throughout the size of the time it takes to bathe off. The smell isn't poor in spite of the undeniable fact that, basically thoroughly overwhelming.

They are useful in that they eat a lot of grubs and insects. Although I tend to give them a wide berth, I don't mind at all seeing them under my fruit trees, eating Japanese Beetles. It would be silly to throw out a part to your car engine just because you don't understand what it does. Same goes with nature. Everything has a purpose.

If you knew ANYTHING about an ecosystem you would know that EVERY animal has use as part of it....What exactly is YOUR use...if you were to disappear off the face of the earth today...would it really make a difference in the world??? Just something to think about.

why do they have to have a purpose to exist?? they're animals, and they live in the wild, don't bother them, and they won't bother you.
