In Tobago, our motel room had ants and food crumbs in the beds and there were two goats tethered right ouside our window (that we had to keep open because there was no A/C...OMG the smell!). The floors were so dirty we couldn't take our shoes off, the TV was broken.

We demanded (and got) our money back, found another much nicer (and less expensive) motel just up the road. We went down to the beach after checking in, and got there just in time to see the police wrapping up a body that had washed up some time that morning.

On the way to the beach with a friend we stopped at a motel near Tarboro, NC. The room was filthy and my friend found a pubic hair in her bed. Ewwww!

Absolute worst was when we were laying over in Albany(I'm a flight attendant) and the hotel clerk gave me a key to a room that was already in use. I walked in on a very large, ok, very FAT, very NAKED and very HAIRY man walking out of the bathroom. I can't remember who screamed the loudest, but pretty sure it was me. That image is still with me (ugh) to this day. It was definitely my worst hotel experience EVER!

There was a wedding at the hotel the night we stayed, so there were drunk people running through the halls yelling and swearing. It was annoying but kind of funny, too.

We stayed at this place called the Knight's Inn and it was nasty... I had to sleep on the floor since I am the youngest of 5 people in my family and there are only 2 queen beds. I was afraid that bugs were going to crawl on me and there were stains all over the carpet... it was just disgusting

Hotels were pretty evenly adequate. But once I didn't tip the bellhop when he helped me with my bags. After that I couldn't get room service!

Give the bellhop five bucks!

Stayed at a mountain motel cabin in Kentucky (said it was a rustic resort)...and it WAS very rustic. You could look outside through the holes in the floors. It was cold, windy and pretty unsanitary. We didn't realize it was going to be so rustic...but in retrospec...it was memorable!
