I'm asking those who view death as the end of sentience. Do you fear death and if so, why?

I used to - not when I was young since back then death seemed so far away. It was easy to push it to the back of my mind.
I feared it after Vietnam, when I was in my 20s and 30s.
Then I'd seen death happen to many my age.
Now that I'm 64, I don't fear it anymore. It's part of the natural process and fearing the inevitable would be pretty silly, useless behavior, Besides, nowadays death, even if it means oblivion, has started to look more and more inviting. Oh, I'm in no hurry to get there, but I think, when it comes, it won't be all that unwelcome.

I fear it, because even if I had an afterlife ahead of me, will my memory and the legacy I leave behind exist after my death, and if so, for how long? I don't fear my mortal death, that's inevitable. I just fear that history and time will swallow me up and every trial and tribulation in my life I've worked through will amount to jack squat since the universe will go on as if nothing had ever happened. And that scares me.

I refuse to fear death, I don't' have any control over when it's going to happen. What good would it do to worry about it do any way. I don't want to spend my life worrying about some thing that I can't change any way.

Life has a beginning so there needs to be an end. All things on this earth either rust/rot /or the moths get to it, so we must go on to better things. This is just pre school/kindergarten/grade school/ high school and then college all preparing us for what comes next. Hang on the ride isn't finished yet!

who made up this rule that we die anyhow? Isn't it funny that we all just accept that the END is inevitable? Maybe if we could think of a more creative option.
But no. I do not hink I will be scared until I HAVE to take that ride.
now, I am sure I will live forever! heehee!

I really don't "perceive" beginnings & ends. Open a book & close it. Ten miles to THERE & ten miles back. Western thinking is so linear. I think~no~I "feel" circles, not beginnings or ends. So, no, I don't fear death.

Edit: I recently answered the question "Why do we seek significance to our existence?" & I hope HowardRoa will refer to my answer. I hope this isn't considered "chatting," but actually, it's adding yet another perspective to the question here.

Fear begins with our belief in our mortality and ends with our knowledge of our immortality, our eternal life as a soul.

You shouldn't fear death because if you do it won't allow you to live.

Having been there, I have no fear. I just shrug it off. Que sera, sera
