I think the contestants on the Gong Show were not as fake. You see so many terrible singers on Idol that pretend to be outraged but you know they are aware that they stink. They just want to get on tv. The Gong Show was more tongue in cheek as opposed to fake.

I like The Gong show better, but American Idol auditions are great too.

i like the gong show cuz it was right then and there. no next week see the same people again to see who outdoes who. just like star search, but at least star search was just champion and challenger, idol, you know what, i can't answer cuz i've never seen american idol.

I liked the Gong Show best , my favorite was the unknown comedian.
