Ask you to repeat yourself? Even if they genuinely didn't hear you?

I am a fast talker... and I find that a little irritating...

I have nieces in NJ & when I'm talking to them on the phone, I can barely understand them - they talk so fast! Here in CA. we are layed back & just talking naturally rythmic, but my son does mumble & I am constantly asking him, "excuse me?" He hates it but I can't understand him! So, it's frustrating on both ends. :)

That's not really fair or sensible, to get annoyed when you know you're the one who's the fast talker. Try to slow down a little! Now if people just don't pay attention and still don't hear you, then you have every right to be annoyed.

Maybe you're a little hard to understand. You admit to being a fast talker, but do you pause in between babbling for the other party to answer or understand? Or are you a serial babbler?

You need to slow down a bit...I'm one of those that has tinnitus(ringing in the ears) and sometimes I just don't hear real clear.

I dont' mind that so much as someone telling me one and the same thing over and over, like they've never told it to me before.
That makes my head explode.

You have to work on that. Talking so quickly could even ruin your career.

So speak more slowly and clearly. If people can't hear or understand you it is your fault, not theirs.
