i think i remember hearing about it on SportsCenter, but i'm not sure. please help!!!!!!!

In a major league game, thankfully, no one has ever died.
There have been pitchers that have taken some tremendous shots off their heads from batted balls, but no deaths.

Ray Chapman of the 1920 Cleveland Indians did die from being hit by a pitch in the head from Carl Mays. But he lasted a few days before dying.

In the NFL, a player named Chuck Hughes died of a heart attack during the game in the early 1970's.

Yes there has.Ray Chapman.He got hit on the temple with a Carl Mays fastball and player's later said you could he a cracking noise as soon as it hit his head.He was knocked out and never regained consicnous and was pronounced dead at the hospital 12 hours later.In his place came a fute hall of famer,Joe Sewell,the hardest player to strike out in baseball history.
