I consider myself Irish all the time. They are known as some of the nicest people. they never get involved in other country's problems, and they aren't the world's most obese people, and biggest polluters. They have hundreds of years of more history than the US, and have, in my opinion, a better culuture. I don't hate America, but I never see myself as an American. I never saw myself as an American, becuase there are no true Americans, besides the Native Americans. I see myself as an Irishman living abroad.

I myself might say that I'm so-called "Muslim-American" but I have the same thinking as you do: "Only Native American's ARE Americans". At least they are the only TRUE Americans. Other people are of European descent, Asian descent, African descent, etc., etc., but the only people who can actually SAY that they are of AMERICAN descent are Native Americans, including the people in South America.

Hi!
First of all ~ to answer your first question, I don't find that abnormal. I think it is part of American (propoganda) to make people unthinkingly American, and that is not easy to deal with when all you want to be is a nice human being.

Second, I feel that way, too. I am so antsy (as in picnic ants)
and upset here that I do not know what to do.

I think you should be proud to be Irish. The Irish are very nice.

Peace & Love
p.s. Don't you want to go to Ireland to live? I have a friend who was Irish, thought she would live here forever, and then changed her mind. She told me that a lot of people were expatriating from the US because the financial situation is so much better in Ireland these days .because of the electronics industry.........and there was plenty to make them happy! I am delighted for her because she did .... the moment I met her, I knew she was homesick for Ireland.

Yes, you are rather normal. "Just because a mother cat gives birth to her kittens in a stove oven, doesn't make them biscuits". America is a political empire. Several centuries ago, there was no such entity. Consequently, there is no such historical people as "Americans". Remember, you always are what you always were, more or less.
