...January 2nd. That way we would not be due back anywhere until the 3rd of January and it would give everyone a nice break from the routine?

I vote: YES
The reason: when I graduated from school and discovered how hard it was to do without summer vacations and to work so hard
the whole year around except for some measly little vacation breaks ....... I nearly fainted! Either we all move to France where according to the last I heard, they all get 5 weeks vacation time every year ...... OR we all refuse to .... to .... comply! That is final!

Peace and Love and Upward and Onward-ho!!!

Though Christmas is Dec. 25, the whole month of December really is a celebration. If you want, just take some time off a few days before Christmas and come back after the New Year. That's what a lot of ppl do. Actually, working around Christmastime (but not on Christmas eve or Christmas day!) is great because the work pace is slower and usually comfortable. Work does get done, but it's not at a frantic pace and ppl try to be nicer around Christmastime. I doubt that we could get a national holiday for a week or 2. If we did, political correctness would force ppl to call it winter break for something like that.

I think everyone should get 2 weeks off around Christmas, however, I'd probably have the Holidays start on the 21st and last until the 3rd.

I'm lucky enough that I get 2 weeks off for Christmas at my company even if it's only partially paid.

I do agree with the 5 weeks of vacation, I'd suggest 2 weeks off at Christmas so families can spend it with their kids, 1 off around winter/spring break or whatever it's called in your area and then another 2 off for the summer when families can spend it together for the grand old tradition of summer vacation.

I also think every month should have a 3-day weekend. Some months go by so slowly when there's nothing going on, like February and March right now. Having to wait until Easter for my next 3 days off is brutal!

Depends on where you work in the USA........... many companies do shut down from Dec 23rd - Jan 2nd or 3rd.

It saves the company money to do a manditory shut down with pay. They don't have to pay over-time. Saves on electricity, and is a good time to run back-ups on work computers.

Teachers also have a Winter and Spring Break.

If you work at a company long enough,
you have paid leave, and can even buy vacation days.

Yes, I know that AussieLand has 6 weeks paid leave, that's why they call it HOLIDAY!

I think everyone should have it,
More work production
happier workers
Healthier attitudes!

yes! and yes! and yes!

I vote YES. In addition, those who must work, like nurses and firefighters, get other long holidays either before or after.
