Once OUR money becomes THEIRS, we are also relived of the responsibility as to how it will be spent.

Because the US is capitalist, so that means each dollar is a vote basically. No matter whether the person earned the money or it was given to them, they can choose what they like to buy with it, and the store owners aren't going to complain about the money going into their pockets. Whether or not buying alcohol and tobacco with welfare money is a GOOD idea is an entirely different subject.

There is no such program as Welfare. Its a myth, an urban legend.
There are various short term programs like Unemployment Insurance (6 months). There is also food stamps which mainly go to the working poor. And food stamps do not buy alcohol or tabacco.

Why are you so hateful and unchristian in your feelings towards those less economically fortunate than you are?

Do you like to see people suffer, or do you cloak it in puritanical good-for-the-soul morality?

First, unless you have seven-figure bank accounts, you are not immune from having economic misfortune strike you as it has others.

More to the point, alcohol and tobacco are products legally for sale to all adults. What part of that simple statement are you incapable of comprehending?

I've wondered that too. I asked and found that they don't use their food stamps for it because thay can't but cash can be used. What they do with their money is their business. We cannot single people out because they are poor.

Maybe the reason they are poor is because someone drinks. I agree they should not be allowed to buy booz or smokes with their welfare money but it is seen as discrimination to dictate to them what they can do with their money. Go figure.
