I work in a call centre so I know how you feel! That is why many call centres have such a high turn over. You need a new job, it's not for you. All the money in the world is not worth sitting doing nothing!
I changed my shift to nightshift when it can be really busy (read my profile, you'd understand how!) and where I am allowed to read as it can be dauntingly quiet, I think getting to know other folk helps. Get yourself out of there, there are plenty of other call centre jobs around that take up alot of your work time!

Good luck!

Get out of there, friend. I've done my fair share of boring jobs and all I got out of it was depression. It's totally soul destroying and rubbish. Anything you try to do to entertain yourself won't last. I even started writing a novel when I was bored at work, but I was a typist so it was easy to make it look like I was doing work, but even that wore thin eventually. I finished the novel, funnily enough, but I dumped the rubbish job. Even working in a shop (or in the cinema like I did) is better than working in a call centre, at least you get to move around and meet nutty people sometimes. Just escape, it's the only solution!! If you can escape to university, that's best!! It worked for me.

If you are working in a call centre incoming calls be prepared for abuse from the callers and make sure you know your stuff. Customer service is what it's all about. Treat people the way you want to be treated and the stress will not get to you. Remember not o take it personally.
