cat liter- we use it in our shop. Leave it on the spill for a day or two then sweep away.

Open up doors and windows in the garage that will help get some outside air into there. Probably unscented kitty litter would absorb it. Maybe you could put your car in neutral and roll it out instead of starting it in there. If you have an older car that has a carburetor, this is a concern. Newer cars that have the fuel injection systems may not be as big a concern. But it if there is a spark from static, the fumes could ignite. Maybe put a box fan or 2 in the garage to help blow the fumes out as well.

Cover it with a pile of sand. Leave for a few days so the sand can absorb the kerosene. Remove sand. If there is still stain, using generous amount of petroleum jelly, rub it on the stain and wipe off with paper towels or rags. Make sure you have adequate ventilation and dispose of the sand and cloths outside your home or garage (possibly in a metal can with a lid); check with the epa or health dept for proper disposal. The kerosone soaked materials are a hazard for spontaneous conbustion and the environment.

Get a bag of floor dry or cat litter and allow it to soak up the mess.
