I think it really depends on what type of disability it is for..

Like, for instance.. if it's something that can be overcome, and your checks are based on income, then sure.. being married and whatever extra income there is, will definately have an effect.

But if it's a permanent disability, then whether or not you're married should have nothing to do with it.

I don't know that for absolute certainty, so I would strongly suggest looking into it, as well as talking it over with your lawyer, since they probably know a whole lot about it.

However, I sure hope that you're not trying to decide whether or not you're going to get married, based upon if you get your disability checks or not. That just wouldn't be right.. Love is so much more important than money. :)

Best of luck!

I have been married, divorced adn remarried since receiving my ssdi approval. No it doesnt affect it. But your spouse, once youre approved, or your children, will be eligible for a small amount as wsell, make sure to report it and ask about it. My children each receive $66 a month. Not much but it DOES help.

Well, it might. If your husband is supporting you, you don't need SSI and shouldn't get it. If you are living alone, you need government support to survive. Don't take this money if you have another means of support. Leave the money for someone who really has nobody to help and can't survive without it.
