Good guesses, but you won't know for sure unless you have spare parts to swap in and out. Take it to the shop and have it diagnosed.

If you have upgraded any hardware like a new graphics card or hard drive, your power supply might be too low, if you haven't upgraded, make sure there are no dust-mites in your computer. open up the case and check...if it needs clean just buy a 10USD air-duster can and blow it til you can see components on your motherboard again. Also might be a surge spike...thunderstorms and power outages ruin computer parts...trust me i know :( well goodluck, if not try your local geeksquad.

You have to open it up and see where there is damage. The whole thing could be fryed but most likely the motherboard because most NEWER power supplies have protection. Laptop or Desktop??? How Old??? Mdole/ Brand??? feel free to email me at michalbugno2006@gmail.com

Yes.
Are there any lights at all that come on when you power up? Any Fans? If NOTHING comes on, not even the LED on the on switch, then it must be the power/power supply/Off/on switch.
