Start with sudokuslam.com. They have a great tutorial, and one of their modes (sumo mode) lets you highlight possibilities for each number, which makes it easier to visualize how the game works. After you master that, go back to traditional mode for how the game is supposed to be played.

The concept of it is that the numbers from 1-9 will appear in each box, column, and row. If a number is already in the box, row, or column, it can't be used again in that place. If I were you, I'd start by looking for numbers that appear a lot in the grid, or a box that looks almost full. For example, if "8" appears a lot, look for the boxes/rows/columns that are missing an "8". If there are any "8"s surrounding it, it will help you eliminate the places that it could be, until you've gotten it narrowed down. There are many different techniques you can use, this is just the most basic. It takes a lot of patience to do, so don't give up on it!
