Not to say that you should go out and drive your car high as a kite.
But what about just De-criminalizing pot? It would still be illegal to posses in public but you could legaly smoke it in your house or at special designated areas, like a hash bar.
Vancouver, B.C. Canada de-criminalized marijuana about 6 years ago and it seems to have not made a diff. in crime or even increased use of the substance.
what do you think?!

I think you should be allowed to do whatever you want in the privacy of your own home, so long as it does not harm others.

As far as pot is concerned, have you ever met a violent pothead? No. They might get a little irate if you deny them that Hot Pocket, but they're too mellow to actually do anything hurtful.

"An' it harm none, do what ye will."

I'd rather see it legalized rather than decriminalized. In a decriminalized state children would still have access to it. In a legalized state it would be regulated verifying source and method of growth (organic/chemical) and children wouldn't be able to purchase it from a vendor. Plus it would probably add a lot more jobs to the economy.

I believe if alcohol is legal, then Marijuana should be legal, as well. I believe they should both have the same restrictions. We need to either legalize marijuana or criminalize alcohol. By the way, history tells us how the latter would turn out.

No. And the idea that making it legal to use in your home or a designated place? Quaint idea but how long would that last do you think? People will smoke and drive just as they drink and drive....there is no way you can prevent it.

Last think I want...nor should any sane person want...are more people high on a drug driving half ton vehicles on public streets.

And no, I don't drink and drive as I don't drink alcohol.

it is pretty much the same as alcohol but if we were to keep making a bunch of laws like that then eventually there'd be a lot more crime and stuff. but maybe if we were to make it legal in only California and the White House nothing would change

It is a good idea. Trying to get a good idea through the legislature is a bit like herding cats.

if marijuana were legalized, the quality could be controlled, it would hurt violent mafias, and if taxed it could pay for rehab for those who mistakenly get addicted to other drugs.

Alcohol causes more deaths in the USA than any other drug and that's legal.
