I'm Rhesus- & hubby is + and just had a chemical preg and now think I'm early days of preg (fingers crossed) but having read that Mommyof6 had 2 m/c before doctors realised she was RhNeg made me worry. I spoke to doc on phone this week who said as it was an early chemical preg at usual time of period that I wouldnt need an AntiD but another Doc who I know said you need an AntiD after every m/c but apparently they check your blood for antibodies and then give you it if necessary whilst preg, however, I suppose it could be too late by then??? Any personal experiences or knowledge of this would be most appreciated....thanks so much. By the way I already have a son and had an Anti D after he was born (I doesnt affect first pregnancy) but that was 10 years ago.

Chemical pregnancy: An early loss that ends before the next period is due. There are usually no pregnancy symptoms, but a blood test can reveal small amounts of the pregnancy hormone HCG.

I really don't think you have anything to worry about with future pregnancies. You may have had many chemical pregnancies and not known about them. Since the egg might not even implant in a chemical pregnancy, I don't think there is much--if any--of the baby's blood mixing with yours. I don't think your body even has time to build up antibodies. Not to mention, if the baby was to be Rh negative, you would not even need the shot. Also, if you read the information on the RhoGam site, they don't even give a full dose if you have a miscarriage before 12 weeks. Nowadays, doctors will test you for antibodies when you are pregnant and if they show up there are ways of dealing with the problem before it affects the baby. Either with the shots or with transfusions to the baby.

I am Rh negative, also. With my first child, I had the shot at 28 weeks and after birth. My daughter was Rh+. With my second, I had the shot at 10 weeks(because of bleeding), 22 weeks, and 34 weeks. My son was Rh-; so, I didn't have any shots after he was born.

I am rhesus neg and my husband is + , my second pregnancy ended in miscarriage and i was given the anti-d injection then with my 5th pregnancy i bled at 10 weeks , i phoned the doctor he just told me to rest up and thankfully pregnancy survived but i forgot to mention on the phone about my rhesus factor and it wasn`t til i got my 1st scan at 12 weeks i mentioned my concerns and i was told not to worry too much as they would check my blood anyway ( i think they check the first blood tests for a whole series of things and obviously rhesus included ) . Too cut a long story short all was well , baby was perfect and i was given the anti-d again after my section . Try not to worry too much after all alot of women who miscarry a 1st pregnancy probably don`t even know their blood types and possibly don`t get the injection but go on to have healthy babies .. Try not to worry ,easier said than done i know .

Good Luck and i hope congratulations are in order !

I CAN UNDERSTAND YOUR CONCERN, I AM RHESUS NEG ALSO, IF I WERE YOU I WOULD BE ASKING A FEW MORE QUESTIONS ABOUT IT, I DID HAVE ANTI D AFTER ALL MY MISCARRIAGES, I THINK YOU SHOULD MAYBE CONTACT YOUR GP, IF HE CAN NOT GIVE YOU A DEFINATE ANSWER, THEN ASK HIM TO PUT YOU IN TOUCH WITH SOMEONE WHO CAN, GOOD LUCK I HOPE ALL IS OK.
