I am 20 and live in Arizona. I am hardly ever outside but when I am I have a tendency to burn slightly. Because I am such an inside person, my skin is very pasty white and I am extremely ignorant when it comes to tanning. I have tried the tanning beds and sprays, but I really was never impressed with them nor were they comfortable to do. What schedule for sun bathing do you recommend to get a nice tan? Times of day and how long? What sun lotions or oils should I use?

Also, do you recommend nude sun bathing to avoid tan lines? (I will be tanning in my backyard which is very private.) What should I do to get a nice even tan?

To too many people, February might seem early to begin sun bathing, but it is already starting to get very hot here. Not to mention I want to get a head start on my first summer with a real, nice looking tan. Can anyone help me?

When I say I burn easily, it is mainly due to my ignorance of sun bathing. My skin is not very sensitive and I do not have freckles. I just don’t know the first thing about tanning correctly!

good question. first off you really want to avoid tanning between 11 and 3, especially in a hot place like Arizona. you want to tan your back for 30 minutes, then switch to your front, but after each hour go inside and put some moisturiser on your skin. it would be a bonus if you used the moisturiser with tanning in as well. then you can go and repeat the hour, but i advise not doing more than 3 hours a day, as pale skin burns much much faster than browner skin. as you get more tanned you can stay out longer. happy tanning!

Tanning simply means you ar burning your skin with the rays of the sun-considering that the sun's rays are so much stronger Now than years earlier due to the large holes(visible from outer space to Austronauts)in the Ozone Layer-protective covering from the Burning rays of the sun -filtered the rays it is no longer safe to lay out in the sun for long periods of time.Whenever you are in the sun you must use Sunscreen with SPF30or even higher to AVOID SKIN CANCER which has increased tremendously in the last several years. So if you must use SPF30+ and no more than 30minutes at one time-avoid 12Noon through 3PM when the sun's rays are the strongest due to the position of sun and earth to each other.Have you been to the CLARIN'S,Lancomb or Estee Lauder Counters at Macy's and other fine Dept Stores where the experts can advise you on HOW to use the Tanning Creams to get excellent tans for no one hardly lays in the sun to tan because of the increase in skin cancer and although some can easily be removed by Dermatologist by freezing with Liquid Nitrogen , the Melanoma etc Cancers can be fatal but use the creams or the tanning booth SPRAYS where jet sprays direct the tanning lotions in steady streams to assure a even all over or where you want tan.If you really wish to tn in the sun do it sensibly and do not BURN-every burn has Cancer causing Potential-may not show up for years. Tan smart and safe.

I wouldn't suggest tanning. It damages your skin more than people know. It increases your risk of skin cancer. I would suggest bronzing cream. If you like the way the stars look with their tans, then you need to get bronzing cream. Stars don't go to tanning salons, or lay in the sun to get tans. They get instant tan with bronzing cream.
