It all depends on what you are good at. If you can catch the ball and have some good blocking abilities then a tight end would be good for high school. If you can hang on to the ball well and like to run over people then shoot for a running back. If you're fast and like to hit/tackle people then maybe a linebacker is a good choice.
Basically, when you try out for the team, if the coach/coaches know what they are doing then they will test your skills out and assign you to a position that best shows your abilities.
If you want to play football then you should. Why would you be hesitant and wonder if you should when 5 years down the line or so, you tell yourself "I should have played football". Don't ever leave yourself wondering "what if".
Good luck and kick some butt.

At 6 feet and 220 pounds, maybe you should play on the offensive and/or defensive line. Try to get in really good shape if you're gonna play both ways. Start pumping iron, too. Try to show the coach that you're willing to work hard.

You can Be a Guard , Defensive end, or offensive linemen but if you want the ball in your hand try TE but you might need to start running alot and lose about 10 pounds

Go for it, it doesn hurt to try out. As for position it depends, can you block, tackle, do you like to hit?, how fast are you? Can you catch? How strong are you?, At your size, You could be anything from Kicker, Running back, Fullback, Tight End, Safety, Linebacker.

When you say you use to play I wonder how long ago. The reason I ask is. If you played many years ago you will probably warm the bench. If it was JV then you should go for it cause you will probably get to play.

Thats a decent size.Maybe a FB or a LB.To big for a DB and QB you might be just a little to short.I'd try a FB if I was you.

The best position would be a halfback, and no don't try.
