I heard Dr. Kubler-Ross lecture in Seattle many years ago. It was shortly after the scandal came out that she had joined a cult where sex was practiced with departed spirits. The whole thing was blown out of proportion, and she explains her disillusionment with this shyster in her final autobiography. At the time I saw her however, she came on stage and quipped "by what you read in the news, I shouldn't even be able to walk on stage, from all the orgies."
She was a brilliant woman who had a brilliant life. She said that the two taboos were sex and death. I believe she was right.
Having worked with people in hospitals for nearly 40 years, I think her ideas on death & dying were right on ...and her descriptions of what happens after death (from interviewing & working with so many terminally ill people) must be accurate as well--this is very reassuring.
Since hearing her speak I have absolutely no fear of death.

I met Dr. Kubler-Ross some years ago when I heard her lecture about her book ... Death and Dying. She was mainly describing the 'steps' that occurred when a patient was diagnosed with a fatal disease. At the time I was a resident ... and I still remember the series of lectures --- of which she was one lecturer--- as being most beneficial when dealing with people who are not going to be on this earth for any great length of time.
