I am torn between two topics for my science fair project, can you please help me choose one? THANKS!!!

1. How does sound affect plant growth?
2. What type of battery lasts longer in CD players?

Please choose between those two. Also, if you have any other suggestions, please feel free to share. THANKS again!!!

I like the first one alot better. I am not sure how much time you have, but you can do a great experiment and show some real results. But, you would need the time to grow a few plants. one with no sound, one with occasional sound, one with constant sound....etc...etc...

The 2nd one is not bad, but it really seems like an easy out. Plus, all you will be able to do is tell the Science Fair judges what your results were. The judges will not be able to physcially see the differences in battery lifes. But, they will be able to see the results of sound on plant growth if the plants were grown in like environments with sound being the only exception. This would be awesome.

Anyway, take care and best of luck on your plant project....lol =)

It would seem to me that the more visually exciting project to display would be the one with the plants. You can either bring in the plants or photos of the plants, along with charts of growth patterns (as compared to a control group) as well as recordings of the types of music you played.

ALL WINNING SCIENCE FAIR PROJECTS HAVE ONE THING IN COMMON!

they all help society....

one guy was in seventh grade and it only took him a day to finish kis project very simple all he did was tested which way does popcorn pop better in the bag in a clump or spread apart did ten trials in like a half hour even the most simple projects win if they help society

go with number two

I like number 2. It really depends on how much time you have to do it in. If there's a few months, I say go for the plant one!

Don't do sound. Measurement will be too difficult. Control plants could be affected by ambient sound, unless you can find a very quiet place for them. Usually a quiet place would be indoors away from the Sun.

I personally like number 2 better because then while waiting for the batteries to run out u can listen to music!

number 1.

It's topical and if you lay on the ''green'' view a bit thick, you'll get extra points.

You may also learn something important and could always bring into the subject the fact disposed of batteries are bad for plants.

#1) Would be interesting ...

#2) Would be nice to know.

I think for science reasons #1 would be the best way to go.

#2 is more of product testing.

Good Luck!
