I wanted to upgrade the RAM in my PC from 256 to 512 MB RAM. I installed the new memory in the empty slot, and restarted the computer (I know from the manufacturer that both slots will take up to 256 MB each). When I turn on the PC, my moniter came on and the PC beeped, but no Windows XP or anything else. I tested each card in the PC by themselves, and both worked. but they will not work together. The two cards are 256 MB, 133Mhz.

That happens sometimes. You might try it again, this time putting them in different slots, making sure they are plugged in all the way. However, they often sell them in matched pairs so this wont happen. It is kind of like spark plugs..you are supposed to replace them all or none..not just one or two.

When you have two sticks of RAM, they should be a matched pair to avoid issues like the one you have mentioned. The exact same manufacturer and model.

make sure you are using the right memory for your computer. just google your pc model and it should tell you what kind of memory you need.
