yes you can. it's called "fair use". You can make personal copies as long as they are not for distribution. The wikipedia page has a great explanation.

Copyrights are to protect the property's owner from losing money when you use it for your gain. Copying a page for your personal use without using it to profit yourself is not violating the law. Copying the whole book or a video so you don't have to buy it is (you profit from not paying for it.)
