permit A and B be the two numbers. If the sum is 10, then A+B=10. If their distinction is one million, then A-B=one million. you at the instant have 2 equations with 2 unknowns. sparkling up one equation for A, plug this fee into the 2nd equation and sparkling up that for B. Now placed the fee of B in the two equation to sparkling up for A. you will then have the values of the two A and B.

(x + y = -1)
+(x- y = 10)
----------------
x + x + y - y = -1 + 10
2x = 9
x = 4.5
y = -5.5

.06A + .02B = 50(.023) = 1.15
A + B = 50

Multiply (A + B = 50) by .02 and subtract it:
.06A + .02B = 1.15
-.02A - .02B = -.02(50)
-------------- -----------------
.04A + 0B = .15
A = 3.75
B = 50 - A = 46.25
3.75 L of A, 46.25 L of B
