a photographer recently approached me, saying i "have the look" and he would like me to photograph me. his offices are based in manhattan (NYC). how can i tell if this is a scam, and would a photographer be able to get me anywhere in the modeling agency?

Ask to see his resume and if he's affiliated with a reputable modeling agency, like Ford or Elite. If he says he is, then check with the agency.

Just because he is a photographer doesnt mean that he can get you into the modeling business. It's probably just some guys way of trying to get your attention. Also remember that some people out there are sick and just want to use you, so be careful.

yes, ask for a business card, a contact number, a resume, references and credentials. it'll be no problem if he's legit, and if he's not he'll run a mile!
