I only saw the special edition DVD once at the store the day it came out but even the next day I could not find it anymore and it's even hard to find online. Why is this? I can't find it in any store...

Several Reasons.
1. it IS a special edition.. it wouldn't be special if everyone had it ;)
2. it costs more to produce and was made for the hardcore fans who got it the first day it was available
3. i know this sounds crazy, but when it came out (and when the homer head came out as well) people were really upset and unwilling to buy the dvd. they wanted the box sets to look uniform when they were lined up with each other, plus I'm sure they had them in shelving that just barely fit dvds and and were not tall enough to handle all that extra hair! i think it was on amazon, but go to the reviews section and go to the very earliest ones and look at all of them griping about the box change. Also though it was cool looking for most of us, some of the people just saw the plastic as looking cheesy and cheap; and they wanted the cardboard box b/c it blended in with the other dvds...

The above answer is great and very detailed ...just on extra thing....in addition to collectors' complaints about the boxes not 'fitting in' with the rest of the series, there were also numerous complaints that they special Marge and Homer boxes were flimsy and cheap. They came apart very easily and didn't hold/protect the dvds very well at all.

no longer something incorrect with 80s hair band ( Van halen, Pantera , fairly revolt, Snider and twisted sister, Skid Row, Ratt , Bon Jovi, Cindarella, Saxon, Dokken, Def Lepard.......) i do in comparison to poison in spite of the undeniable fact that for some reason or yet another.
